Dr. James Sterling joined Missouri S&T in 2024 from the Keck Graduate Institute in Claremont, California, which is a member of the Claremont University Consortium. He joined Keck as a founding faculty member in 2000 and served in many capacities, including director of the school’s intellectual property and technology transfer committee and its Ph.D. program. He earned a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the California Institute of Technology in 1987.

Dr. David Enke, Curators’ Distinguished Teaching Professor of engineering management, was named associate dean in 2024. Enke served on the S&T faculty from 2000 to 2007 and returned to the university in 2012 as professor and chair of engineering management and systems engineering. After returning to full-time teaching, he served as interim department chair from 2022 to 2024. He earned a Ph.D. in engineering management from Missouri S&T in 1997.

Dr. Rachel Kohman joined the university in 2021 as the director of Kummer Student Programs. She designed and implemented the Kummer Vanguard Scholars Program, which provides scholarships and experiential learning opportunities for up to 350 undergraduate STEM scholars each year. She oversees the Kummer Innovation and Entrepreneurship Doctoral Fellows program and helps guide innovation-minded Ph.D. students.
